About Care Alliance Health Center
Care Alliance is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides primary medical care, dental care and supportive services to individuals living in extreme poverty in Cleveland, Ohio. We provide care on a sliding fee scale based on income, and will not turn anyone away due to an inability to pay.
Our Mission: To provide high-quality, comprehensive medical and dental care, patient advocacy and related services to people who need them most, regardless of ability to pay.
What is an FQHC? Federally Qualified Health Centers are community-based health centers located across the country that provide health care services to medically underserved populations. FQHCs are funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Care Alliance is one of 1,200 FQHCs nationally and 39 in Ohio. What is different about Care Alliance? Care Alliance is a recipient of funding from the HRSA Health Care for the Homeless and Public Housing Primary Care Programs. This funding enables us to provide care specifically to those groups in Cleveland.
Because we serve these special populations, our patient demographics are very different than the typical FQHC. Whereas nationally, four in ten health center patients have no health insurance, nearly nine out of ten Care Alliance patients are uninsured. Caring for such a high percentage of uninsured patients has major implications on our funding, as we see less insurance revenue than the typical FQHC.
