Approximately 4,000 individuals experience homelessness each night in Cleveland, Ohio. There are 46 million uninsured individuals in the US and 1.3 million Ohio residents are without access to primary care.  In the state of Ohio, it is estimated that close to 950 million dollars is wasted on avoidable ER visits each year!   The ANNUAL cost of treating a patient in a community health center is less than the cost of one single visit to the ER. For each patient seen at a Community Health Center, rather than at another setting, there is a savings of $250 per year had they gone to a private doctor’s office. In Cleveland, the three community health centers will see 60,000 patients this year and will save Cleveland tax payers 15 million dollars.
